After regaining their strength and in the case of Mersadie learning a few new spells from Chardiz, the adventurers were being interrupted while enjoying a well-deserved breakfast. Some family, mother, father and 3 children aged 16 to 2 went missing from their nearby farmstead. After joining the mayor and searching for clues, they concluded that it must have been some kind of humanoid and no animal. The local wizard was able to scry the location and pinpoint it on a map, draining him in the process for a day. The group set on to search for the family, but somehow managed to get lost in the forest due to some wrong navigation in the wild...

Just in time they perceived the thick spider webs and were able to fend off some incredibly hostile and big spiders, waiting for prey in the shape of big animals and some humanoids. After searching for their lair, the party went on in the right direction and got to an opening in the forest, illuminated by the moon and some lit torches.

There was a pretty big group of Ratkin chanting around a cauldron and a Rat-Mage with 2 heavily armed Shocktroopers doing some kind of ritual further away. Sneaking up amidst the ruins of a long lost settlement, they charged and were finally able to defeat the kidnappers, even though Barosh nearly found his long-awaited end. Searching the only building which had more then a few crumbled walls, they were able to find the lost family and hide for the rest of the night.

At dawn, Chardiz and his two servants arrived, as promised, to help them get the family and the heroes back safe, even though they weren't aware in the struggle of survival. In the end, the heroes were greated as such in the little town and even got their own house right beside the wizard's tower out of gratitude. Now onto finding out more about this apparent infection of Rat-men...
