About the wartorn land of Mantica - Claudio's 5e D&D Campaign set in the world of Kings of War

Tales of great adventures and bitter losses

Set right after the events of the outbreak of the Abyss, the marauding hordes of Evil terrorizing the known world and finally the flooding of the great chasm itself, the land is wartorn and greatly marked by the conflict. The Frozen Sea in the North is partially melted, flooding great parts of the eastern Mammoth Steppes, pushing the inhabitants to the southern and western borders. Even though it was known to the Ogres, not everyone is pleased and the ancient hunting grounds of the ancestors are gone. Tribes of Varangur, who hunted down Abyssals viciously, now face an unknown future. Near the Howling Peaks in the crystalline city of Chill, the Northern Alliance mobilizes it's troops after successfully defending against the army of demons. Many Knights of the Brotherhood, Dwarves, Elves and other people found a new home here after their life-changing events. But not everyone is pleased with it: Unknown motifs of the alliance and their willingness to accept deserters and all kinds of refugees promotes suspicion in many of the so-called noble races. After the destruction of the Great Cataract, King Golloch festened his grip on many Free Dwarves and wants to reunite his folks, one way or another. For that, he needs more land and the conflict with the Hegemon of the City of the Golden Horn reignites once more. Basilea, the human bulwark against the Abyss after the shattering of the Brotherhood, reacts with a show of force and bolsters it's defenses, not only to the East, but also to the North against its former allies, the inhabitants of Galahir, while trying to reinforce its claim as the true successor of Primovantor. In the meantime, the Successor Kingdoms hide behind their newly build Great Wall, somewhat united for the first time under Lord Darvled. Meanwhile, the southern shores of the Infant Sea have seen many changes themselves. Elvenholme lost contact to the Twilight Glades as an ancient and terrible Evil somehow managed to breach the membranes of reality and flood into Mantica with prior to these events unseen numbers. It is to be hoped it can be contained... Atleast the massive undead Navy of the Empire of Dust has been shattered before it could depart in mass from the Serpent mouth. The price was higher than expected though, as the Thuul Mythicans of Neritica unleashed a beast so ancient, that the outcome of that actions remains unknown for now.

But even with so many losses, the evil forces aren't defeated completely. Flocks of Gargoyles, accompanied by other fast Abyssals raid the land in hit-and-run tactics, Necromancers try to find new lairs to study the forbidden art, Ratkin dug deep beneath the lands in hope of regaining their numbers, Abyssal Dwarves plotting revenge on their former brothers and sisters and sightings of unknown or unidentified threats litter the land. Not even the dungeons of the City of the Golden Horn could lock down some Champions of Evil, who now roam free again. Although many heroes of Good arose in the time of conflict, the likes of Eckter, Domitius, Jarvis and many more, it seems that even more are needed now, as alliances crumble and warbands stride through the lands... Welcome to the wartorn land of Mantica! Enjoy your stay, grab a drink and a sword and don't get killed!
